We're scouting for talent

The 9th Erith is a dynamic Scout Group that helps young people enjoy fun and adventure while developing skills for life. With a Beaver Colony, Cub Packs, Scout Troop and Explorer Unit, our friendly leadership team is always kept busy and open to new members joining the team. Here are just some of the things you could help us with and make all the difference.

Are you a super scribe?

Frequency: 4 times a year

We need someone who can help us keep the minutes of our meetings, initially for one year. That’s just four meetings! We have a management committee that meets once a term. Meetings last for an hour and a half and we can show you everything you need to know. If it sounds simple, that’s because it is!

DIY Apprentice or Jedi?

Frequency: When you can

Can you paint a fence / wall?

Can you maintain our grass or plants?

We are luckly enough to own our Niden Scout Hall and grounds. We need to support to maitain the grounds and buildings with some basic DIY. Is this something you can help with?

Juice Mixer / Biscuit Distributor

Frequency: Once a term

Can you help make the drinks and hand our snacks at one of our sections? Its such a small job but it frees up a leader to run the programme.

Volunteer Manager

Frequency: Weekly

We prepare young people with skills for life. But who supports the volunteers who make this happen? People like you. You can inspire, motivate and plan ahead. You’ll enjoy working with adults and young people in your local area and seeing the impact of your efforts. You’ll be organised, diplomatic and know how to get the best of out people. We’re not going to pretend this is easy. This is a big role. With big rewards. And because you believe in the power of Scouting to help more young people you’ll know it’s all worthwhile. Can you help fund a future?

Are you fizzing with fundraising ideas? Are you equally at home organising a cake sale as a sponsored Digital Detox? Then we need your energy and initiative to help us. 9th Erith Air ScoutsScouts now need a group fundraiser to help support our activities and improve our facilities. Raising extra funds means we can provide a wider range of exciting opportunities to our young people. With experience of organising fundraising appeals, you won’t be afraid to get stuck in with anything from a car wash to helping a sponsored triathlon go swimmingly! No specific time commitment is required and the role is flexible enough to fit around you. We’ll provide full support and training, a sociable network, plus it all looks great on your CV.

Executive Member

Frequency: 4 times a year

Every Scout Group requires trustees, which form the Group Executive Committee.

This committee oversees the administration of the Group. As well as a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, each Executive welcomes people with specific skills, and representatives of Beaver, Cub and Scout parents. Most Group Executives meet three or four times a year, but effective members will volunteer for tasks in between the meetings, thus ensuring the smooth running of the Scout Group and maximising its potential for a hugely positive impact on its young members.

Section Assistant

Frequency: Weekly/Fortnightly/Monthly - we flex to you

Make a bird box; transform a future.

Would you like the chance to canoe, climb and make bird boxes while improving your CV? As a Section Assistant in the 9th Erith Air Scouts Scout Group you will do all of this and more, using your current skills and learning new ones. We now need a fun, committed person to support young people, helping run games and activities as part of weekly meetings. As part of a small team, you will be plan and deliver a safe and exciting programme for young people, helping them achieve badges and awards. Enthusiasm, an empathy with young people and a sense of humour are a must. But we can teach you the rest. We’ll support you all the way and ensure you get the training and support you need.

Brilliant! You could be just the person we’re looking for.

Social media is a great way to show people what’s going on in Scouts. But we need help and support to do it. Whether it’s writing some catchy copy or choosing a great photo, then we need your creativity.

Ad hoc support member

Frequency: When you can

Scout Active Support roles provide a huge range of support activities

This often involves contributing specific skills at events, or helping in a more general way. The great thing about being an SASU member is that you can dip in and out as it suits you, with no pressure whatsoever for a regular commitment. In doing this you will be helping in a very important way to maximise the benefits of Scouting to young people. SASUs also organise a programme of social activities for themselves.
